Most people have the habit of giving a watch as a gift. Gifting a watch in this way negatively reduces life expectancy. Items that are well past the expiry date should never be given as presents as they not only bring bad luck to the sender and receiver of the gift but can also ruin the friendship between them. Wall clocks and watches should not be given by a younger person to an older as this represents the passage of time.

The rationale behind implied “bad luck” of gifting a watch occurs, because it is said that when the watch stops working, the love ends or relationship ends but there is no bad luck involved when parent gifts a watch to their son or daughter.
